I Would Describe Myself As

Hi! My name is Deborah or Deb, as I am called by family and friends. My friends and family would say that I'm fun to be around. They might go on to say that I'm warm, witty, caring, steadfast, easy going, affectionate and someone they can always count on for just about anything. They might even be tempted to tell a story or two that would be sure to embarrass me.I'm originally from Queens, New York City, NY. I grew up about four blocks from LaGuardia and I'd ride my bike on its runways. My family moved to Middle Village when I was in high school and college. This was a lovely, safe neighborhood made up of Irish, German, and Mafia. The Mafia kept it a safe place to live, except for the occasional execution or machine gunning of the dinner. Then to Syosset, Long Island, where I sat in bumper to bumper traffic to my various jobs in Midtown Manhattan, where I worked for over 20 years.The life of a single lady in NYC was quite fun. So much so that I didn't get married till I was 34. That was considered "old" for marriage back in the 1980's. I was the last of all my friends and relatives to finally make it down the aisle. I was married for almost 25 years. I have three children, all wonderful, loving grown ups with families of their own now. They are my greatest loves and have given me five terrific grandchildren with another one one the way.I was very blessed to grow up in a loving, supportive home. My parents were together for almost 50 years and still held hands when they walked down the street. They were the perfect example of what love, marriage, and parenthood is supposed to be. My best friend of 50 years, has told me that my family only existed on TV, a combination of Father Knows Best and the Donna Reed Show. I am the middle child in between two brothers and yes, I was a tomboy growing up.I think most people I know would say that I am bright, intelligent, humorous, and good company. My family would say that I'm a very loving, affectionate person, and generous to a fault. A true and loyal friend, who is always available to help or just lend an ear. I don't wait to be asked, if a need or problem exists, I'll be there to help in any way I can 24/7. I'm the type that buys lunch for homeless veterans on a street corner. It may be a scam but I'd rather be kind than cynical. I try to find a compliment or kind word to give to waitresses, check-out clerks, or passerbys, just to let them know that they have been noticed. I'm a happy person and will always have a smile on my face, usually humming a song I recently heard. I'm very easy going, and devoid of temper, preferring to talk through a problem than to let it brew into a major confrontation. I avoid confrontations unless it is a matter of principle. I'm kind, considerate, and thoughtful. I'm too honest, sometimes lacking in diplomacy. I'm an upbeat optimist, who will never drag you down. I think I'm a good, giving person and I like me! I hope you will too.I would like to finally find true love with a man who respects, appreciates, understands, and loves me as much as I would love him. A man who would make me a priority in his life. He would want to share with me his thoughts and feelings, his joys and sorrows. He would be a man of integrity and principle, thoughtful and considerate, helpful and generous of his time and talents, not just with me but with family, friends, and even strangers.
