Ich würde mich selbst beschreiben als

Widowed in 2010 after 46 happy years of marriage, I am now ready to look for male companionship. A sense of humour is essential -- I enjoy life and am frequently light-hearted though sometimes quiet and introspective! I consider myself a lively conversationalist as well as a good listener. I love my garden, going for walks in the local natural park as well as in the countryside, as long as someone else does the driving. I like to explore interesting small towns. I enjoy travelling, though I would much prefer to not continue to do so alone, and still have a lot of the world to see, as well as most of Canada. An avid book collector, I also collect beer coasters, netsukes and Shona sculptures. I enjoy visiting museums, art galleries, old and modern churches and cathedrals, and like to see interesting architecture. I am entertained by live classical music and jazz, and most recorded music, live theatre, occasional movies and I love dining out in all kinds of restaurants except hamburger joints. I enjoy wine, port, and many beers though rarely drink more than one glass of any of these in a day (often none). I love most cheeses, particularly a good ripe Brie. I am happy entertaining at home and am considered by some to be a gourmet cook. I volunteer in a number of different areas ranging from book-sorting to workshops in prisons and editing various written materials. I enjoy irregular visits from my three grown children and one grandchild, but do not live in their pockets! I have two overweight cats, many goldfish, which live outside in my garden pond throughout the summer, and I feed birds, squirrels and the occasional stray cat. Past careers have included high school teaching, catching shop-lifters, researching and career counselling and I rather like being retired. I have been learning to play bridge and enjoy a number of other card games as well as Scrabble. Now I need a loyal, patient friend and companion who may not play bridge but will be there to hear how I have got on at my games -- bonus if he does play, though. I do not play golf and have not danced since I left high school in the UK where I grew up. I watch baseball on TV, as well as most of the programmes originating in the UK on TVO and PBS, documentaries, comedies, dramas and detective series. I read at least two newspapers most days and do the Sudokus to ensure that my brain is still fairly active! Anyone reaching their senior years will have developed a number of talents, hobbies and other characteristics, but this is a sampling of what makes up me! I do not smoke and prefer that my companion does not do so either.
